About
I am a teacher, reader, writer, leader, teacher supporter, student advocate, instructional innovator, and researcher.
After teaching high school English language arts (ELA) exclusively for 9 years, I branched into the world of career and technical education (CTE) where I served as Teaching as a Profession teacher, Work-Based Learning coordinator, CTE Department Chair, and school-wide Academy Coach.
My expertise is in project-based learning (PBL), Career and Technical Education programming and processes, multimodal literacy, ethic of caring in the classroom, and the academy school model. My interest in PBL is what thrust me into the world of CTE where I had the opportunity to shape a public school's transformation from a traditional school to an academy school as the school's Academy Coach. In my role as a leader, I have been able to develop curriculum, build vision for academy school implementation, CTE program development, including supports for STEM and STEAM programs.
As a researcher, my interests center on professional learning, participatory culture, ethic of caring, and student identity.
Currently, I serve as an instructional coach in the office of Academies & CTAE in Gwinnett County Public Schools.
